But to turn it on, I only know how to do it on the Synscan mobile app. I was told a long time ago to enable that even when I wasn't guiding so I really don't know why to turn it on. It will not fix anything optical.įor the sidereal part. A good polar alignment will greatly mitigate star trailing. The most important thing is the polar alignment. That just helps the mount find things in the sky. The good news is that 2 or 3 star alignment will have nothing to do with your image. Like, the goto function works well - after I polar aligned and did a 2 star alignment, the mount went successfully to three DSOs.does that mean it's aligned "enough"?Īs you can see, I'm getting in over my head here. I feel like I am pretty aligned, but I'm never quite sure how exact my alignment has to be. As above, I am not sure how to set that? On the SA, it's a big dial on the side.ĥ. How do I set tracking on it, a la the StarAdventurer? I feel like I might have been missing this part.Ĥ.

I used the Synscan to align it with a 2-star alignment, then wasn't doing anything. I got this result on exposures anywhere from 2" to 8"ģ. The solution was to do a cosmetic correction and then everything stacked perfect.Īnyway, you should be able to get fairly good unguided shots up to like 90 seconds with your setup.ġ. The reason why I ask if it is stacked is because I ran into a similar issue like your picture because of hot pixels.

Now I just use sharpcap pro and it is super easy. After that my alignments were perfect and you can check that thru the polar scope by rotating the RA and seeing if Polaris is still in the circle.

Most of them will be good enough for stacking. You can easily do up to 60 sec exposures with a properly polar aligned mount. I think you should try taking some images with what you have.
